Rembrandt was famous for painting portraits. Photography had not been invented in Rembrandt’s time, so hiring an artist to paint your picture was the only way to have a picture of yourself. Rembrandt liked to use strong lighting to add interest to a face. So, in a classroom only lit by the light from outside Year 6, 4 and 2 sat and drew their friend opposite.
