As an accredited Montessori school and nursery, we offer high quality education and care for children from 2 to 11 years. Our mission is to implement the philosophy, practices and curriculum of Maria Montessori and her method of education because we believe the difference we make lasts a lifetime, helping children develop into well-rounded individuals. To this end, we have created a welcoming, engaging Montessori environment that is responsive to each child at all stages of development.
Every child is treated with respect, given freedom within the limits of a carefully structured environment, and allowed to develop naturally at his or her own pace. Maria Montessori recognised that children have a natural willingness to explore and that the best motivation for learning is self-motivation. The children choose from a wide range of self-educating and self-correcting activities, working with each for as long as he or she needs to.
The Montessori Method
The Montessori Method is characterised by providing a prepared environment of self-directed activities, where children take ownership of their learning. Quality teachers, who demonstrate fidelity to Montessori principles, guide and support the process of learning and ensure freedom develops within clear limits. Children learn at their own pace in vertical groups, both individually and collaboratively, with time to reflect and be creative. This promotes socialisation, respect and allows children to live in harmony with others in the small society of their school.
Our aim is for children to feel safe, secure and confident. For them to become resourceful individuals and fulfil their academic, creative, physical, social and spiritual potential. The emotional wellbeing of every member of our school community is intrinsic to everything we do. The school is a nurturing environment where relationships are positive between peers, younger children and adults. An effective partnership with parents and face to face communication demonstrates a shared commitment to supporting the overall wellbeing of the child.
Children have opportunities to be successful, their contributions are welcomed, and their individuality is celebrated. Children are challenged and inspired to be the best that they can be through high expectations of learning and behaviour. Being polite and considerate, tolerant and respectful is actively promoted, in order to be valued members of their school, local community and the wider world.
The headteacher with the support of the Leadership and Management team aim to provide the necessary structures and resources to meet our aims and provide the financial security and stability to deliver the above goals.
Ultimately, we enable the children to develop into happy, lifelong learners who leave equipped to meet the challenges of the future.
